// Projects in Germany: Heat plants and combined heat and power plants
// Drilling and power plant technology
// The current state of Enhanced Geothermal Systems
// Research and development needs
// Assessment of seismic risks
// Geothermal energy and Carbon Capturing and Storage (CCS)
// Project development, finance and risk hedging

 Shallow Geothermal Energy

// Site assessment: technical and legal framework
// Increasing efficiency and
heat pump technology
// Concepts for using geothermal energy in the building stock: technical solutions (drilling technology, more efficient heat pumps etc.)
// Use of geothermal energy in industrial and commercial buildings
// Quality requirements and certification

 Interdisciplinary

// Geothermal energy in the heat market
// Developments in geothermal energy and flagship projects worldwide

Guest country Turkey

Workshops no. W2, W4 and W6 will be focused on Turkeyand will be planned in English in cooperation with the Turkish Geothermal Association (TGA). In these workshops lectures will either be given by guests from Turkey or will cover German research and project activities in Turkey. This year’s guest country has excellent geological conditions and a very good potential for geothermal energy. Moreover, energy consumption in Turkeyincreases rapidly and geothermal energy plays a big part in Turkey’s energy concept. The Turkish government expects investments of 1 billion US-$ in the use of geothermal energy. One more reason to have a closer look at Turkey.

How to get to Karlsruhe

Rail travel

Karlsruhe is a main railway hub for InterCityExpress (ICE), InterCity, EuroCity and InterRegio connections. And it’s on the direct ICE link between Hamburg and Basel which also stops at Frankfurt. Karlsruhe is also the starting point for trains running west to east via Stuttgart to Munich. Coming from Paris it only takes around 3 hours to reach Karlsruhe on the high speed TGV.

Air travel:

Karlsruhe Trade Fair Center has excellent connections to at least 4 airports: Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden (a drive of approx. 30 minutes) and other major international airports such as Frankfurt, Stuttgart und Strasbourg (a 50–60 minute drive).

Public transport:

take the S2 (suburban railway), travelling towards Rheinstetten. Alight at Messe/Leichtsandstraße.
Main station: take line 6 (towards Daxlanden/Rappenwörth) or line 4 (Waldstadt) until you reach
Europaplatz; change to line S2, travelling towards Rheinstetten. Alight at Messe/Leichtsandstraße. From Durlacher Tor: take line S2.

From the A5/A8 motorway (Autobahn):

Coming along the A8 from Stuttgart drive south onto the A5, following signs for Basel. Leave the A5 at junction 48 for Karlsruhe-Süd and follow signs to "Messe“. The road name for satellite navigation systems is Leichtsandstraße (on some systems Leichtsandstrasse) in the Karlsruhe district of Rheinstetten.

From the A65 motorway (Autobahn):

The A65 merges with the B10. Leave the B10 at junction 8 and follow signs to "Messe“. The road name for satellite navigation systems is Leichtsandstraße (on some systems Leichtsandstrasse) in the Karlsruhe district of Rheinstetten.
