10. Oktober 2017 - 13. Oktober 2017

Nairobi (Kenia)

On GRMF:
The African Union Commission (AUC) on the one side and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the EU-Africa Infrastructure Trust Fund (EU ITF) via KfW Entwicklungsbank (KfW) on the other side established the Geothermal Risk Mitigation Facility (GRMF) to fund geothermal development in Eastern Africa. In addition, the UK Department for International Development (DFID) is making a contribution to the GRMF.

The GRMF was launched in April 2012 and is implemented in a series of application rounds. The 3rd Application Round completed by end of 2015. The 4th Application Round was launched in June 2016, with the full application phase (2nd stage of application process) commencing after the pre-bidding workshop on 2nd November 2016.

The programme co-finances surface studies and drilling programmes aimed at developing geothermal energy projects – being a largely untapped indigenous and renewable energy resource. The GRMF programme currently comprises 115 million USD available for funding.
